Hi, Everybody:
This Sunday, May 16, is the 7th Sunday of Easter and Fill the Food Barrel Sunday. We also will be celebrating the Ascension of Our Lord (actual feast day: yesterday) The 40-day period after Easter during which Jesus makes appearances is over, and he says goodbye riding a cloud to heaven. Also gone is Pastor Tim, who is taking some time off this week and next, but he’ll be making appearances online both Sundays, (he has recorded services ahead of time). Of course, this means there will be no Zoom Communion this Sunday, but there still will be Zoom Coffee Chatas usual. This Sunday is also the last day of Sunday School until the fall. There will be a Church Council Meeting at 11 a.m. If you’d like to attend the meeting, please contact Marta Wicke for the Zoom info.
The Sierra Pacific Synod Assembly is over, and the new Sierra Pacific Bishop will be… (drumroll….cymbal crash!) The Rev. Dr. Megan Rohrer, the first transgendered bishop of a major denomination in the U.S.! (favorite quote so far: “…love even the neighbors that withhold cake” from their “Prayer for the Fabulous”) For a summary of the convention, please see the document “Assembly-2021-Recap.”
Vacation Bible School is coming up June 14-18. This year’s theme is “Treasured – Discovering You’re Priceless to God.” Like last year, it will be online Monday through Friday, 6:00 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. (or so). Click here to access the registration form in Google Documents, or use the PDF version. Also, here is Terri’s information letter again in case you didn’t “treasure” it enough to save it.
Next week – Pentecost Sunday! Be festive and wear red (even if no one can see you).
– Keith, your friendly Parish Life Coordinator (i.e. Church Secretary)
