HTLC News Email, November 1, 2024

Hi, Everybody:

Don’t forget to set your clocks back one hour Saturday night/Sunday morning.  This will also be the first Sunday of our new schedule:

8:30 am    Coffee / worship preparation
9 am          Music Practice
9:30 am   Worship Service
10:45 am   Fellowship / Coffee
Sunday School / Confirmation
Adult Forum (when available)
11:30 am   Bell Choir Practice
12:30 pm  Council Meetings (usually on 2nd Sundays of the month)

This Sunday, November 3, is All Saints Sunday!  We honor those who have touched our lives by lighting a candle in remembrance and listing their names in the bulletin and onscreen.  Over the years, Carmen has collected pictures and descriptions of 110 recognized saints of the church into a saints of the church slideshow.  Come early to worship (which will automatically happen if you forget to set your clocks back) at about 9:10 am to see the whole fascinating and informative show (possibly set to the sounds of choir rehearsal!).  It’s also Nacho Name Tag Sunday – with nacho sauce as bright as the halos of the saints! (I had to tie it in somehow…)

Thanks to all who participated in our Trunk-or-Treat on Halloween.  The neighborhood kids came out in droves (is a drove the correct collective noun for kids?  Is it a passel of kids?  A migraine of kids?).  We think it was our busiest year yet!  Thanks to Hospitality for providing the food.  We hope more of you will join in the fun next year!

We will be having Adult Forum at 10:45 am on Sundays November 10 and 17, in the Activity Room.  Florence Pidakala, our Ministry in Context Student, will be leading a Bible Study.  All are invited!  (no heckling, now – this isn’t Pastor Tim!)

There will be a Council Meeting next Sunday, November 10, at 12:30 in the Activity Room.  All are invited to attend.

Adopt an Angel is our annual November Cause of the Month.  A special tree goes up in the narthex with tags bearing a number and the age and gift wishes of a foster child.  Take however many tags you feel you can handle, purchase the gifts, and leave them under the tree unwrapped and with the tag attached (try not to lose the tag!). Donations of gift wrap are appreciated, but no gift bags, please. The gifts need to be under the tree no later than Sunday, November 24. Gift cards and cash are also accepted if you If are unable to shop. Preferred gift cards are Walmart, Target or Amazon. If you have any questions, see Cheryl Kuhlmann. Thank you for making this season a little bit merrier for foster children.

Information on Christmas Pageant Rehearsals and the Thanksgiving Potluck will (hopefully) be coming soon!
