HTLC News Email, November 12, 2021

Hi, Everybody:
This Sunday, November 14, is the 25th Sunday after Pentecost, but more importantly, it’s Confirmation Sunday!  Come and witness as Annelise and Marielle Miedema profess their faith in front of the whole congregation (and the entire neighborhood, since we will be outdoors [no pressure!]).  Other than that, things are pretty much as usual with Zoom Sunday School, Coffee Chat, Communion, and Outdoor Worship all at their usual times (9 am, 9:15, 9:30, and 10 respectively).  Plus, it’s Scrip Sunday – so don’t forget about the Adopt an Angel gifts (due Dec. 2nd) and everyone else on your “nice” list!

Tomorrow, Saturday Nov 13, from 9 am to 3 pm, there will be a Holiday Boutique at Holy Trinity!  Not a Holy Trinity event per se, but the venue that a member of Christ the King had booked to hold the boutique pulled out at the last minute, so we agreed to hold it here. Part of the proceeds go to Beau’s Bridge Club, an animal rescue nonprofit, so come by and help rescue both animals and the boutique at the same time!

The monthly Council Meeting, usually the second Sunday of the month, has been moved to November 21 at 11:30 am via Zoom. If you would like to attend, please contact Marta.  Have your voice heard! (unless you forget to unmute)

I will be updating the Prayers of the Church which are those names included in Sunday’s insert and email. These are people known personally by our members whom they feel are in need of prayers.  Most people, however, don’t notify me when the names should come off the list.  From time to time, we need to start over in order to keep the names current.  For the start of the new church year on Nov. 28, Advent 1, let’s have a fresh start. We will be removing all names except those that are re-submitted. Please let me know which names should remain on the list, or any new names that need to be included, by Nov. 24th.  You can email them to me, call, or fill out a prayer card from the pews and put it in my box.  It is helpful to have an estimate of how long each name should remain on the list.  If it were up to me, God would answer all prayers by the end of each month, but for some reason, God refuses to follow my schedule.

It’s getting close to the holiday season (I’m sorry, were you blissfully unaware?).  Here are some upcoming events:
Nov 21:  Christ the King Sunday
Nov 25:  Thanksgiving Day
Nov 28:  1st Sunday in Advent
Dec 12:  Virtual Christmas Pageant
               Tori’s last day with HTLC/CTK
Tori’s Living Advent Calendar at CTK
