HTLC News Email, November 23, 2024

Hi, Everybody.  Sorry this is so late, but I have been (and still am) sick.  As you will see, this is not an unusual occurrence for this week…

This Sunday is Christ the King/Thankfulness and Lutheran Loose Change Sunday, Pastor Tim is off.  Pastor Barbara was going to preside and do Children’s Time in his place and Pastor Jim Brun was going to provide the Message.  Then Pastor Barbara got sick, so Pastor Jim agreed to preside as well, and Carmen agreed to do Children’s Time.  Then Pastor Jim got sick and Pastor Hayward agreed to preside and Cheryl Kuhlmann agreed to read Pastor Jim’s Message.  For those of you keeping score:

  • Carmen Blair is filling in for Pastor Barbara who was filling in for Pastor Tim for Children’s Time.
  • Cheryl Kuhlmann is filling in for Pastor Jim who was filling in for Pastor Tim to deliver the Message.
  • Pastor Hayward is filling in for Pastor Jim who was filling in for Pastor Barbara who was filling in for Pastor Tim as Presider.

We will be having a Thanksgiving Potluck in Holland Hall after the 9:30 am service.  All are invited!  Please let the the kids line up first because they need to go to a rehearsal for the Christmas Pageant right away.  Hospitality will be providing turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, gravy, bread, and beverages.  Others are bringing salads, sides, and desserts.  Even if you didn’t sign up, please come and help eat all the food that people are bringing!

If you chose a tag from the Adopt an Angel Tree, your gift is due under the tree TOMORROW!  See Cheryl Kuhlmann if you have any questions/donations/last minute panic.

We have been having technical problems with streaming our services.  We will be recording the services, then uploading the recordings to YouTube afterwards until we fix whatever the problem is.  Once the videos are uploaded, I will send out the link for those who cannot be here in person and for those who like to watch the service over and over and over again (I’m sure they exist).  Last Sunday’s service is available here: https://youtu.be/MWkIRemok6U

There will be no Tuesday Bible Study on November 26.  Tuesday Bible Study will resume on December 3 (probably a good time to join them as everyone else will have forgotten what they were talking about 3 weeks ago anyway).

Friday, November 29th, at 7pm, Sonos handbell ensemble will perform in Christ the King’s sanctuary.  Come see one of the only professional handbell ensembles in the world make magic on over 200 instruments as they bring alive European music from Spain to Russia.  Jason Tiller of CTK will be performing.  Free will donations to the ensemble are gratefully accepted.  Contact Jason Tiller with questions – jason@starnull.net, 510-673-7895.

This year’s Sunday School Christmas Pageant, “Alice in Nativityland,” will be performed during the 9:30 am worship service in place of the Message on December 8.  It’s another masterpiece from the mind of Kathleen Keating, so it’s bound to be entertaining!

The following Sunday, December 15, is Choir Message Sunday.  The Choir will be presenting the musical piece “A Light Still Shines” by Randy Vader, Jay Rouse, and Camp Kirkland in place of the Message.  Don’t miss it!

Christmas Eve Services
4 pm:    Christmas Eve candlelight service
5:30 pm:  Randy and Vicky’s Christmas Eve Get-Together
8 pm:    Christmas Eve candlelight service

I will send out a separate email with the schedule and links for this Sunday later today.  But remember, there won’t be a link available to watch the service until some time after the service.

Nobody else is allowed to get sick.
