Hi, Everybody:

This Sunday, March 8, is the Second Sunday in Lent and Scrip Sunday.  It’s also the beginning of Daylight Savings Time, so remember to set your clocks forward an hour.  If you forget, first service people will be just in time to help Praise Band set up, and second service people will be just in time for the Council Meeting at 12:15 in the Activity Room (everyone is always invited to council meetings, but don’t expect any singing of praise songs).  It’s also Girl Scout Sunday.  Girl Scout Week is celebrated each March, starting with Girl Scout Sunday and ending with Girl Scout Sabbath on a Saturday, and it always includes Girl Scouts’ Birthday, March 12, the day in 1912 when Juliette Gordon Low officially registered the organization’s first 18 girl members in Savannah, Georgia.  Girl Scout Sunday and Girl Scout Sabbath give girls an opportunity to attend their place of worship and be recognized as a Girl Scout—a Go-Getter, Innovator, Risk-Taker, and Leader.

Only eight days until the Spaghetti Feed! (Saturday, March 14, 4 pm to 8 pm)  All hands on deck!  Terri says we will be needing servers (High School age and up) so please let her know if you are able to help out in that way.  And if anyone has any extra hand sanitizer, please bring it for our guests to use (no, we are not going to sell it at exorbitant prices – although that would make an excellent fundraiser right now!).  I know Briana has gotten together a lot of fabulous donations for our silent auction, but we still need gift cards and prize baskets for the raffle, so those of you whose God-given talent is shopping, get busy!  There will be many opportunities to help, but the best way is to come, invite all your friends, and have a great time.  We all can do that!

Our Midweek Lenten Services continue on Wednesdays at 6:30 pm until Holy Week.  This week we’ll hear from Caiaphas the High Priest and Judith, Servant at Caiaphas’ House as played by our guests from Holy Redeemer Lutheran Church.  Don’t miss out on these thought-provoking, melodic, and meditative half-hour services.

Check out the Media Table for new issues of Christ in Our HomeThe Word in Season, and Living Lutheran as well as the Lenten devotional booklet The Healing Marks of Jesus.  All sorts of stuff to get you thinking Lentishly.

See you in church!
