HRLC/HTLC News Email, June 2, 2023

Hi, Everybody:

This Sunday, June 4, is Holy Trinity Sunday and Nacho Name Tag Sunday.  Holy Trinity Sunday (or simply Trinity Sunday) is always the Sunday after Pentecost Sunday, and celebrates the mysterious three-in-one nature of God (no, the Holy Trinity is NOT Chips, Cheese and Chili!).  Worship is at 10 a.m. as usual.  That’s about it for this Sunday, but we have lots of stuff coming up:

Next week, June 11, there will be an HTLC Council Meeting at 11:30 AM.  As always, anyone is welcome to attend.  Bring up a controversial topic to be discussed at length – they’ll love you for it! (not)

Sunday, June 18 is Father’s Day, and we’ll be having a Father’s Day Barbecue honoring all fatherly types following the worship service.  Be sure to sign up on the clipboard at the Media Table in the narthex so Hospitality can get an approximate head count (or more to the point – mouth count).  Other fun forms to fill out at the Media Table are Favorite Hymns and Graduates.  Just put them in my box (Parish Life Coordinator).

Holy Trinity’s Musical Theater Camp for K-8 children is coming up quickly!  Rehearsals are June 19 to 23, 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.  Performances are at 6:30 p.m. Friday, June 23 and during the 10 a.m. worship on Sunday, June 25.  You’ll be able to entertain (i.e. get rid of ) your kids for four and a half hours a day plus performances.  That’s about 25 hours of enrichment! (me time) At $250, that’s a great deal!  Sign-ups have been low, so please register as soon as you can.  (With a musical called “Oh, Jonah,” I’m sure they’ll need at least two kids – a Jonah and a Whale)  Click here for all the details and to register.

Speaking of signing up, there’s a brand-new Spaghetti Feed volunteer sign-up sheet in the narthex.  Grab those coveted positions such as food server, cashier, and everyone’s favorite, clean-up crew!  Other ways you can help out:

  • Donate a themed gift basket for silent auction (previous themes have included BBQ gear, beach day, wine/liquor, family game night, stay at home movie night, etc.)
  • Donate a handmade gift for silent auction (previous items have included beaded artwork, woodwork, knitted/sewn blankets or quilts)
  • Bring a dessert for the dessert table to augment the traditional tiramisu
  • Post flyers on community bulletin boards in places you frequent (with permission, of course).  They should be available this Sunday.
  • Invite family, friends, everyone you know!

The Spaghetti Feed is on Saturday, June 24 from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.  It’s all-you-can-eat, $20 for adults, $12 for kids under 12, and $50 for a family of four (another great deal!).  There’ll be various pastas including a vegetarian option (gluten-free available on request), garlic bread, salad, dessert, a kid’s zone, and all sorts of frivolity!

That’s an awful lot of food-related events this month.  We wore red on Pentecost, maybe we should all wear sweatpants for the month of June!
