HTLC/HRLC News Email, March 18, 2023

Hi, Everybody:

Well, it looks like we have another Saturday edition of the Friday email blast!  It’s just been one of those weeks.  In the interest of time, I’m mostly copying and pasting from the bulletin insert with nary a so-called witticism (you’re welcome).  The Worship Schedule and links email will be coming later today (or early tomorrow).

Installation of Councils
During the worship service this Sunday, we will be installing the 2023 Church Councils of both Holy Trinity and Holy Redeemer. Thank you for your willingness to serve!

Jesus & Justice Collective Event
The Jesus and Justice Collective’s “Active Allyship” Event is this Sunday, March 19, at 2 pm. They will demonstrate how to safely intervene in support of people being harassed. The event will take place at Cedars Church, 38325 Cedar Blvd, Newark, CA 94560. Go to jesusandjusticecollective.org to learn more and to register.

Transition Teams’ Adult Forum
On Sunday March 26th at 11:15 am there will be an Adult Forum with both HRLC and HTLC’s Transition Teams. It will be an informal discussion (Q & A) about the process and possibilities for both congregations as we consider our future.

Midweek Lenten Services
Wednesday, March 22 at 6:30 pm will be the fourth of our joint Midweek Lenten Services held here at Holy Trinity with Holy Redeemer and Christ the King. These are half-hour meditative services with a series of short dramas called “Even the Least of These” written by Kathleen Keating. This Wednesday’s drama is “The Blind Man from Bethsaida”  and it is Christ the King’s turn to lead and perform. Come, re-focus, renew, and journey with us.

Saturday Clean-Up for Palm Sunday
On Saturday, April 1, we will be preparing for Palm Sunday and Holy Week by decorating with palms, washing windows, and other general cleaning. All are encouraged to come and lend a hand. The fun starts at 9 am and snacks will be provided.

Sign up for the Easter Garden!
Sign up at the Media Table or email the Parish Life Coordinator if you’d like to bring a plant in honor or in memory of someone for the sanctuary display. Please print legibly to help ensure correct spelling in the bulletin. Just purchase the plants – any size, variety, or color is welcome, and make sure it’s at the church by 10 am on Saturday, April 8. You will be able to mark your plants with your name so you will be able to pick them up after the service on Easter.

Seder Meal Returns!
On Palm Sunday, April 2, we will be having a Seder Meal. The Seder Meal will be at 5 pm and there will be a sign-up sheet at the Media Table in the narthex if you’d like to attend. It’s a celebration of Passover with traditional food, wine, and ceremony, but with a Christian slant.  This year, the suggested donation is $20 for adults, $12 for kids. Lots of food, fun, and fellowship!

Maundy Thursday Soup & Service
Christ the King is hosting a Maundy Thursday soup supper on April 6 at 5:30 pm prior to the combined Maundy Thursday service at 7 pm. Everyone from Holy Trinity and Holy Redeemer is invited to both the supper and the service. Christ the King’s address is 1301 Mowry Ave. in Fremont. For details and to sign up for a dish, please contact Debbie Pollak (510-825-4816, bartpollak@gmail.com) or Kris Adams (510-468-8709, kresl@comcast.net). Maundy Thursday commemorates Jesus’ Last Supper.

Good Friday
April 15 at 7 pm, we will be having a Good Friday service here at Holy Trinity. It’s a solemn service commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus.

Friendly tone and general silliness will return next week (fair warning!).

– Keith
your friendly Parish Life Coordinator (i.e. Church Secretary)
