HTLC/HRLC News Email, May 12, 2023

Hi, Everybody:

This Sunday, May 14, is the 6th Sunday of EasterScrip Sunday (Join here with our enrollment code B768EC1D14576), and, of course, Mother’s Day (you didn’t forget, did you?).  During Children’s Time in the worship service, the kids will be handing out flowers to the women of the congregation.  Then, after the service, we will be having a Mother’s Day Brunch in honor of all mothers and motherly-types.  Thanks, Moms!

In order to make more room in storage, Meg and Sharon have sorted through the flower arranging materials left behind by Loretta Heihn.  Please feel free to take some home with you (or give them to Mom to make her think you remembered).  They will be on display in the breezeway this Sunday.

Monday, May 15, (only 3 days away!) is the last day to let Kathy Miedema know if you’d like to attend HTLC Day at the A’s!  On Sunday, July 2, baseball fans are invited to join other Holy Trinity members at the A’s game as they play the White Sox at 1 pm.  Rumor has it that there is a jersey giveaway for groups, and a sunglasses giveaway!  Tickets are $25 each and will be due as soon as we purchase group tickets.  Email Kathy at skoop32@yahoo.com to reserve your tickets.

Next Sunday, May 21, at 12:15 pm, there will be a Holy Redeemer Congregational Meeting.  The meeting will take place in the Holy Trinity sanctuary.  It is very important for HRLC members to attend if at all possible.

Also on May 21, a Spaghetti Feed Planning Meeting will be taking place following service.  Due to the aforementioned HRLC meeting, the first part of this meeting will be used to answer questions and get new members/friends familiarized with how they can support the event by donating and volunteering.  The more “seasoned” Spaghetti Feed volunteers are asked to stay on hand for the second half of the meeting when a bit more of the detailed planning will take place.  As a reminder, the Spaghetti Feed is scheduled for the evening of Saturday, June 24th.

May 21 is also the date of the next Jesus and Justice Event “Far East, Deep South.” It’s a film about a Chinese American family’s search for their roots in the Mississippi Delta.  It’s from 2 pm to 4:45 pm at South Bay Community Church, 47385 Warm Springs Blvd., Fremont.  To learn more and register, click here or go to jesusandjusticecollective.org.

Holy Trinity needs two voting members and possibly a third to attend the Synod Assembly in September.  We will be electing a new Bishop.  The two voting members should be of differing genders.  The synod encourages us to include persons of color, persons whose primary language is other than English, youth (confirmed to age 17), and young adults (age 18 to 30), and may also send one additional lay voting member if they fall into one of these categories.  Work with Terri MacFarlane regarding registration.  The assembly takes place Friday, Sept. 15 – Sunday, Sept. 17, 2023, at the Hyatt Regency, San Francisco Airport.  Find out more at https://www.spselca.net/2023-sps-synod-assembly.

This summer, your kids will be able to take part in a Musical Theater Camp here at Holy Trinity! Rehearsals will take place 10 am to 2:30 pm, Monday through Friday, June 19 through 23. Performances will be on Friday, June 23, at 6:30 pm, and during the 10 am worship service on Sunday, June 25. The musical is “Oh, Jonah!,” a musical romp through the story of Jonah.  Pastor Barbara is the Program Director, and Kathleen Keating is the Artistic Director. The cost will be $225 if you sign up by June 1, after that, the price will go up by $25. Camperships will also be available. You can register at holytrinityfremont.org, or scan this QR code (Wow! Technology!).
