Hi, Everybody! I’m writing to you from the less-than-lovely Extended Stay America in the Tacoma-adjacent and less-than-exciting city of Fife, WA (although there is an Almond Roca outlet store!). Richard and I want to thank you for the lovely send-off and gifts, part of which went to the purchase of the laptop on which I am writing to you this very moment, and which allows me to do my Parish Life Coordinator work while traveling. We miss you all!
This Sunday, April 14, 2024, is the 3rd Sunday of Easter and Scrip Sunday. As usual, Worship is at 10 am, Sunday School and Confirmation are at 11:15 am, and Bell Choir is at 11:30 am. In addition, there is an HTLC Council Meeting at 12 pm. You’re welcome to come and ask them uncomfortable questions! (I can say that because I’m 800 miles away – well out of striking range)
Office Hours continue to be sporadic until a non-virtual Parish Life Coordinator is found. Please call first before coming over to see if anyone is there to assist you.
On April 21, we will be having a New Member Sunday when we will welcome new members during our worship service. If you enjoy worshiping with us and supporting our mission to care, to share, and to serve God, please consider becoming either a voting member or an associate member. If you decide to do it on the 21st, then you can be up in front of the church in the company of other folks instead of all eyes being on you alone (unless you like that sort of thing). Talk to Pastor Tim to find out what is involved and all the perks of becoming a voting member (you get pestered to be on Council).
White Sunday is coming up on May 5th. White Sunday is a traditional Tongan day for parents and communities to acknowledge and celebrate children by making them encouraging them to wear white and participate in the worship service with songs and recitations. Pastor Hayward Ofa and Nick Ofa have graciously agreed to include our children with theirs to practice during our usual Sunday school time so our youth can participate in the church service that day. Rehearsals will replace Sunday School throughout April. The celebration will continue after the service in Holland Hall!
Mother’s Day will be on Sunday, May 12, and we will be having a Mother’s Day Brunch after church to honor all mothers and mothering-types. Show your Mom how much you care by not taking her to a crowded restaurant!
Musical Theater Camp is coming June 3 -10 and June 10 – 14 from 9 am – 4 pm for kids K – 8. Our Kathleen Keating is directing “Esther,” an amazing musical adaptation of the Bible story.
