HTLC News Blast – Friday, October 9th, 2026

Hello Everyone! Hope you are having a great week and looking forward to what’s up in October at Holy Trinity!

This coming Sunday, October 11th, we will be celebrating the 20th Sunday after Pentecost. We begin the day with Youth Bell Choir at 9:15 am in Holland Hall. Worship begins at 9:30 am. It’s also Scrip Sunday, so check with Pamela if you’re wanting to give more without paying more!  It’s a really cool trick!  After church, at 10:45 am Youth Group and Sunday School meet.  Church Council begins at noon and our Tongan worship is at 1:00 pm.

What’s Happening:

  • TIME TO CELEBRATE ART’S 90th – This Saturday, Oct 17 in Holland Hall from  12:00-4:00 PM. Please join us to celebrate Art’s 90th birthday with food, family, friends and fun. No presents, please!!!
  • Give a hand to the Bulletin Board! – Please take down a hand and write down something of God’s work that has been done! Put your own (anonymous, if you like) or highlight someone else you see doing God’s work! Thank you, Vicky, for a great board!
  • Oktoberfest! – Our amazing Hospitality Team has chosen a Saturday for Oktoberfest this year! Saturday, October 24th from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.  As it’s different from last year, we need to make sure this date works for most of us.  So – please sign up sooner rather than later, so that the date can be revised if too many of us can’t make it! We don’t want anyone to miss it!! If you want to help decorate, please let Terri and the team know!
  • All Saints is on November 2nd – November 1st is All Saints Sunday, when we remember those who have especially touched our lives but who are no longer with us. Please sign up on the clipboard at the Media Table by October 26 to have your saints listed in the bulletin and presentation. If you would like a photo of your saint shown during the service, please email a picture to Carmen Blair at carmenjblair@gmail.com or let her know to use a picture you previously provided. Remember that these names and photos will be livestreamed on our YouTube channel, so please make sure it’s okay with the person’s family or others in the photos before submitting them.
  • TODAY – Clergy Appreciation Day!
  • The Mission Endowment Committee – (MEC) is pleased to announce that recently the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church (HTLC) Council approved the withdrawal of money from the mission endowment fund to be spent this year on church mission and ministries.  This is the inaugural disbursement from the fund.  Some of the money, as recommended by MEC, and approved by the HTLC council, was given to the ELCA, and to the Sierra Pacific Synod.  Most of this disbursement, however, is yet to be allocated.  The MEC encourages the HTLC community to submit proposals to use this money to care, to share, and to serve God.  For more information, or to begin a conversation about your ideas, please reach out to the MEC members Dean Sieglaff, Ellen DiPaola, or Cheryl Kuhlmann.
  • Reformation is coming! – There is a form in your bulletin that will help us – and you! – to prepare for Reformation.  Please take a moment to respond by the 18th to the 2026 Reformation Question and place it in Carmen’s Inbox, or give it to the ushers.
  • Something to ponder this month . . . As each has received a gift, employ it for one another as good stewards of God’s varied grace.    1 Peter 4:10 Please be open to the many opportunities to serve at Holy Trinity, including mowing and trimming, teaching and guiding, greeting and reading, and even assembling worship bulletins.   We are grateful for God’s gifts to you of talents and time, and for your sharing of them in the ministry of Holy Trinity. Also, be sure to check out the new bulletin board as you go to the patio!

I’ll see you on Sunday!

Blessings,

Pr. Barb
