HTLC News Email, February 17, 2021

Hi, Everybody:

First, once again, some sad news.  Muriel Teague, beloved charter member of Holy Trinity, passed away on the evening of February 10th.  We give thanks for Muriel’s life and witness, and commit her to the loving care of our Creator.  Please keep her family and friends in prayer.

Tomorrow, Saturday February 18, at 11 am, is Cheryl Hall’s Celebration of Life.  Following the service there will be a reception with food by Hospitality and desserts by volunteers.  You are encouraged to wear purple, Cheryl’s favorite color.  We will also be livestreaming the service.  Come and help us celebrate this remarkable woman’s life!

This Sunday, February 19, we will be worshiping with Holy Redeemer at their church.  The service is at 10 am and the address is 35660 Cedar Blvd, Newark, CA 94560 (plug the address into your favorite map app).  They use Zoom for sharing their services, so if you can’t make it in person, click here to join via Zoom.  This will be their last Sunday there for a while because they will begin worshiping with us starting Ash Wednesday through at least Easter as they discern their future as a church.  Plan to stay for their Mardi Gras celebration with beignets and jazz!

Ash Wednesday is February 22 – the beginning of the season of Lent .  We will be holding an Ash Wednesday worship service at 7 pm.  This service will include the traditional imposition of the ashes on the forehead as a reminder of our mortality (like we need a reminder after those first two paragraphs).

HTLC’s Annual Congregational Meeting is February 26 at 11 am (just over a week!). This year, we will be attempting a hybrid meeting (in-person and Zoom) to be held in the sanctuary.  All members are urged to attend and vote.  Find out what Holy Trinity has been up to this past year and help decide where we are headed.

Beginning on March 1 and continuing each Wednesday in March, we will be having joint Midweek Lenten Services at 6:30 pm here at Holy Trinity.  Christ the King and Holy Redeemer will be joining us for these meditative half-hour services featuring short dramas by our own Kathleen Keating entitled Even the Least of These.  HTLC, CTK, and HRLC will take turns leading the services and presenting the dramas, and the liturgical music will be the Holden Evening Prayer service by Marty Haugen. Come, re-focus, and journey with us.

Remember, THIS SUNDAY IS AT HOLY REDEEMER! (don’t pretend you thought it was at Holy Trinity and just show up later for the beignets!)
