HTLC News Email, June 4, 2021

Hi, Everybody. Sorry this email is so late – blame COVID! (What will I do when it’s no longer a plausible excuse?)

This Sunday, June 6, is the 2nd Sunday after Pentecost and our first In-person Outdoor Worship Service!  These services are planned for 10 a.m. each Sunday throughout the summer, unless COVID conditions change. We plan to have live music every other week with Michael Keating on 2nd Sundays and Praise Band on 4th Sundays (but we all know how plans change…). You may bring your own chairs and communion elements or use the (less-than-comfy) folding chairs and (disappointingly alcohol-free) pre-packaged communion elements provided.  Please wear a mask and stay 6 feet apart from other individuals or family groups in order to safeguard the vulnerable (or possibly unvaccinated) people among us.  More details will be coming soon in a long-promised (but not yet written) email.

For those who need or prefer to stay home (or are on vacation – you lucky dogs!), there will still be a pre-recorded Online Worship ServiceZoom Coffee Chat at 9:15 a.m., and Zoom Communion at 9:30 a.m. (don’t miss it – it’s earlier!).  The Zoom information has changed, so watch for that all-important Sunday morning email.  We will continue to provide these online opportunities for the foreseeable summer.

This Sunday will also be the last day to register your kids for our upcoming online-by-Zoom Vacation Bible School.  This year’s theme is “TREASURED—Discovering you’re priceless to God” (don’t confuse the word “price” with the word “worth,” because then you’d be “Discovering you’re worthless to God!”).  It will be held June 14-18, 6:00-6:45 p.m.  Our VBS is free and open to all kids Kindergarten through 6th grade.  All the buddies, songs, stories, and crafts you love will be there.  Please register using the registration form in Google Documents, or the PDF version, both of which you can access on our website.  VBS Treasure bags will be available Saturday, June 12th between 9:30-11:30 a.m., and again on Sunday June 13th between 9:00-11:00 a.m.  Please contact Terri MacFarlane directly  (tam1960@aol.com or 510-402-9161) if you have questions or are not able to pick up your packet(s).

On Father’s Day (Sunday, June 20th) we will be having a Father’s Day Lunch. Like the Easter Breakfast and Mother’s Day Brunch, it will be on a reserve-a-time-and-pick-it-up basis from 11 to 11:30 a.m.  Please reach out to Randy Kuhlmann if you have special needs or if you have a huge group (and no, I don’t know the menu – I assume there’s some sort of meat involved).

Hope to see your faces eyes on Sunday!

– Keith, your friendly Parish Life Coordinator (i.e. Church Secretary)
