HTLC News Email, March 1, 2024

Hi, Everybody.  I’m in cold, wet Washington state!  This email will have to serve as newsletter, Sunday links, and bulletin insert all in one.  If you want to know about building usage this week, please visit our calendar at

Thankfully, Neal and Rene Bierbaum have figured out the internet problem at church and they are working on the camera blackout problem, so hopefully we’ll be able to stream the service this Sunday.  Thanks, Neal and Rene!  My usual email is still not working. If you need to contact me, please use the following email:

This Sunday, March 3, is the 3rd Sunday in LentNacho Name Tag Sunday, and Bold Women’s Day when we celebrate the contributions of women of faith.  Three of our own bold women will be sharing the message at the Worship Service at 10 am.  Sunday School and Confirmation will be at 11:15 am, and Bell Choir will rehearse at 11:30 am.  Here are the links for this Sunday:

Tomorrow night, the Sunday School invites the young and young at heart (everyone) to join them for Game Night 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm on Saturday, March 2nd at church. You may bring a snack to share (finger food), your favorite card game or board game, or just bring your smiling face! (or any other emoji)

We have a new Ministry in Context Student – Marie Florence Pidakala!  She’ll be spending this semester with us gaining experience as to what it’s like being a part of a real congregation.  Introduce yourself, and for heaven’s sake try to act normal! (Just kidding, be yourself – she’ll run into weirdos like you wherever she goes and she might as well learn now!)

With Joy and thanksgiving you are invited to witness and celebrate the Ordination of Kelly Miller-Sanchez on Saturday, March 16 at 1 pm at Holy Redeemer Lutheran Church, 35660 Cedar Blvd in Newark.  A reception will follow.

Don’t forget about our Midweek Lenten Services on Wednesdays at 6:30 pm throughout Lent.  These are half-hour meditative services featuring Taizé music and short dramas by Kathleen Keating. Christ the King, Holy Redeemer, Holy Trinity and the Tongan Wesleyan Church are all participating.

I made a mistake last week (I know – shocking!).  The Maundy Thursday Service at Christ the King is at 6:30 pm (not 7), March 28.  Sorry for any confusion.

Other events to keep in mind:
Palm Sunday on March 24
Seder Meal on March 24 at 5 pm at Holy Trinity (watch for a sign-up sheet soon)
Maundy Thursday Service on March 28 at 6:30 pm at Christ the King
Good Friday Service on March 29 at 7 pm at Holy Trinity
Easter Sunday on March 31
