HTLC News Email, November 25, 2022

Hi, Everybody:

This Sunday, November 27, is the 1st Sunday of Advent.  It’s the beginning season of a new church year, with its beautiful blue paraments, candle lighting rituals, and anticipation of Christmas.  It’s also Lutheran Loose Change Sunday, so be sure to bring in those coins that have been accumulating on your dressers, bedside tables, and in your couches throughout the year.  Every little bit helps!  There is no Sunday School or Confirmation Class due to the holiday weekend, but Worship Service is as usual at 10 am.  This Sunday is also the last day to bring your gifts for the Angel Tree.  Don’t disappoint those foster kids!  Contact Cheryl Kuhlmann if you have any questions.

This Tuesday, November 29, is Giving Tuesday.  Giving Tuesday is a global generosity movement unleashing the power of radical generosity.  It was created in 2012 as a simple idea:  a day that encourages people to do good.  Since then, it has grown into a year-round global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.  It’s a simple idea:  whether it’s making someone smile, helping a neighbor or stranger out, showing up for an issue or people we care about, or giving some of what we have to those who need our help, every act of generosity counts and everyone has something to contribute toward building the better world we all want to live in. (the previous was copied and pasted from this website: – in case you were wondering how I came up with a phrase like “unleashing the power of radical generosity”)

Thank you to all who prepared and brought food, set up, decorated, and cleaned up for our Thanksgiving Potluck last Sunday.  It was a delicious success!

Well, that’s all the new news I know, so I’m cutting it short right here as I’m not really working today (shhhh!).
